With $250 in start-up capital, a borrowed laptop at her kitchen counter in Cypress, Texas, and a list of online courses to take, Maya Bechi launched Robson and Puritan Publications. Filled with alacrity and a short term plan, Maya is claiming control of the process for curating an expansive collection of scholarly journals, research methods journals and texts for African Descendant Americans whose ancestral history include American chattel slavery. Robson and Puritan Publications is on the revolutionary path of becoming the largest global repository for open access content that supports critical thinking, data analysis, and computational tools. The ultimate destination for content that trains future scholars and scientists!

The daughter of an Army Veteran and neurodivergent parents, Maya grew up on the Detroit westside block of Robson Street and Puritan Avenue, below the poverty line. Although she was labeled gifted and talented, beginning at age 14, she went directly into minimum wage work and skipped college after graduating from high school in order to support her family. Heavily equipped with a lone wolf mentality and determination, Maya eventually became the first in her family to graduate college. She obtained her Bachelor of Arts in Economics at Wayne State University, and her Master’s in Advanced Special Education at Concordia University where she focused all of her research on trauma informed teaching, social emotional learning and behavior analysis. She is an Educator, mental health hygiene advocate, and currently authoring multiple non-fiction books to support best practices for using skills learned in therapy for everyday life situations. Maya is enjoying 20+ years of helping young adults find their path to wellness and audacious living as they transition, with a myriad of past experiences, into adulthood. 

Currently, she is the ultimate gentle force multi-hyphenate, traditionally employed, solo-prereneur, mother of 2.
